科比-布莱恩特一直以来都被看做是联盟中防守能力做好的球员之一，除了2004-05赛季因为伤病原因以外，自1999-2000赛季以来，科比每个赛季都入选了联盟最佳防守阵容，尽管有部分批评的言论认为科比的球队总是在比赛最后时刻打得会有所松懈。
